Ultrasound imaging – also called ultrasound scanning or sonography – is a non-invasive medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the inside of your body. These images are captured in real time, so they can show the structure and movement of the body’s internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels. Unlike x-rays, ultrasounds DO NOT use radiation which make them a safe and effective tool in finding and diagnosing numerous medical conditions.
